Giancarlo Scaglia studied Visual Arts in Lima, where his artistic practice first developed. Working through a conceptual approach that moves across different media, Scaglia investigates the ways in which images, symbols, and visual structures generate meaning within broader cultural and historical frameworks. His work examines the relationship between form, language, and the construction of collective imaginaries.

Central to Scaglia’s practice is the appropriation and reconfiguration of visual signs. Through processes of transformation and recontextualization, he reorganizes familiar symbols and iconographies into compositions that question the stability of meaning and reveal the mechanisms through which visual culture shapes perception, memory, and narrative.

Scaglia’s work has been presented internationally in galleries, museums, biennials, and art fairs. Notable solo exhibitions include Nocturnal at Bernier/Eliades Gallery, Athens (2022); Golden Aérea at Bernier/Eliades Gallery, Brussels (2018); El Frontón y Stellar at Corkin Gallery, Toronto (2015); and Stellar at Bendana | Pinel Art Contemporain, Paris (2014). His work has also been included in major international exhibitions such as the 10th Mercosul Biennial in Porto Alegre and the Poly/Graphic Triennial of San Juan.

His works are held in public and private collections, including the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), as well as private collections across Latin America and Europe.
