REVOLVER Galería Opens Houston Location at 2012 Peden Street

Houston, Texas, May 28, 2026. REVOLVER Galería announces the opening of its Houston location, marking a significant expansion of the gallery’s international program and long term presence in the United States. An opening reception will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 5–8pm. Gallery hours will be Tuesday through Sunday, 11am–6pm.

Founded in Lima, Peru in 2008 by artist Giancarlo Scaglia, REVOLVER Galería emerged at a moment when contemporary Latin American art was gaining increasing international visibility while remaining unevenly represented within global market structures. From its inception, the gallery established itself not simply as a commercial space, but as a platform for critical engagement, supporting practices that confront political histories, social structures, and the evolving conditions of contemporary life across the region.

Over the past decade, REVOLVER has expanded beyond Lima, establishing a space in Buenos Aires in 2017 and later opening in New York in 2022. Across these locations, the gallery has developed a transnational program connecting local artistic production with international circulation, participating in major international art fairs and contributing to the broader institutional recognition of contemporary Latin American conceptual practices.

The gallery’s program is defined by a sustained commitment to conceptually rigorous work that challenges dominant narratives and proposes new frameworks for understanding identity, memory, labor, migration, and systems of power within a global context. Through exhibitions, commissions, performances, publications, and institutional collaborations, REVOLVER has cultivated a platform centered on long term artistic development and critical discourse.

The opening of REVOLVER’s Houston location, under partners Giancarlo Scaglia and Micheline Newall and directed by Megan Olivia Ebel, reflects a deliberate investment in one of the most active and culturally significant intersections between the United States and Latin America. Rather than functioning as a peripheral market, Houston operates as a direct extension of Latin American cultural life, shaped by migration, industry, patronage, and long standing artistic exchange. Within this context, the gallery’s program enters a city where the work can be engaged through lived proximity rather than abstraction.

REVOLVER’s Houston program will focus on conceptually rigorous exhibitions alongside long term artist development, emphasizing research, production, institutional dialogue, and strategic placement across both private and public collections. Rather than operating through isolated exhibition cycles, the gallery prioritizes continuity, building sustained frameworks of support around artists and their practices over time.

The inaugural exhibition, Nomos, curated by Reynier Leyva Novo, opens in conjunction with the gallery’s launch and establishes the curatorial direction of the Houston program. The exhibition includes works by artist Giancarlo Scaglia alongside a selection of international conceptual practices that reflect the gallery’s broader curatorial vision. Novo, a Cuban artist based in Houston, brings a perspective shaped by both international conceptual practice and the city’s evolving cultural landscape.
